This project, a collaboration among CDP, NAYA, and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz, aims to address the housing crisis in Portland by introducing affordable housing on a 0.41-acre site in Northeast Portland. Of the 56 units, 20 are designated for Native American households. The project focuses on fostering community, providing affordable housing for artists, and promoting sustainability. It includes communal areas such as a community room and an art studio. Named in Chinook Wawa, which translates to "to make beautiful," the design is inspired by traditional plank house architecture, reinterpreted in a modern four-story structure. It features artist lofts, studios, and apartments of various sizes, and has achieved Earth Advantage Platinum certification for its energy-efficient and environmentally friendly attributes.
